“For me, breath is the genesis of everything in life…”

Read more about how I approach my work as a voice teacher here.

Singers from my studio have won major awards, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, the Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage Competition, the Sylvia Gelber Music Foundation Award, the Art Song Preservation Society Competition German Lieder Prize, the American National Opera Association Vocal Competition, and the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition.

Competition, grad school or solo professional career are not the only pathways to becoming a complete artist - I work with you to find your unique place in this artistic world.

“I am a very demanding teacher when it comes to breath, especially for singers at the beginning stages of training.”

Choosing repertoire that excites you and helps you define yourself as a singer is a big priority.

“The performances by Avery Lafrentz, Khadija Mbowe, Caroline Stanczyk, Matthew Snowdon, and Jo Greenaway - of music by everyone from Claude Vivier to Healey Willan to John Greer - were unarguably varied; it’s a promising thing to see someone like Elizabeth McDonald, a voice teacher at a major Canadian institution, disseminating Canadian music to her students.”
